Speaking Lesson 101 · Greeting & Opening Contact
In Your first exchange, the audio-enabled line សួស្តី (suə-sdei) means “Hello.” Related recall asks: “You meet a friend casually. Which hello fits best?” The choices are សួស្តី, ជំរាបសួរ, and អរគុណ. Corrective feedback explains that សួស្តី is the everyday all-purpose hello, while ជំរាបសួរ is more formal.

From first contact to connected speech
You begin by opening contact, choosing respectful forms of address, asking questions, handling prices and ordering. The path then develops routines, description, past and future reference, action in progress, sequence, cause and effect, conditions, comparison, classifiers, modal meanings, reported speech, social register and structured discussion.
What grammar in context means
A lesson presents a situation and living Khmer first. You notice the recurring logic, receive a concise explanation, and apply it immediately through listening, dialogue, selection and recall. “Not academic grammar first” describes the teaching order — it does not mean grammar is absent. A grammar pattern in action
A common Khmer negation pattern places មិន before the verb phrase and ទេ at the end.
Learners meet the pattern inside a communicative exchange, inspect how it works, then use it with new verbs and answers instead of memorizing one frozen phrase.
